The Applied Biostatistics Association (TABA) invites you to a seminar and dinner:

Presenter: Dr Loren D. Grossman, Endocrinologist at the LMC Diabetes and Endocrinology Centre in Toronto, as well as Courtesy Staff in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.

Abstract: The talk will cover the following areas:
– What is diabetes?  Short/long term health issues/complications?
– How is it diagnosed?  Signs/symptoms?
– Diabetes treatment options, history of disease
– Why the concern about diabetes and cost to the health care system?
– Typical measures/endpoints for assessing diabetes control
– Issues/challenging in conducting diabetes research/clinical trials
– Some statistical issues

6-7 pm seminar
7 pm dinner (optional, but registration required)

Where:  The talk will be held in G-wing of Sunnybrook Hospital, 2075 Bayview Avenue (between Eglinton and Lawrence).  A map can be found here http://www.ices.on.ca/webbuild/site/ices-internet/utility/icesmap.cfm  showing the location of G-wing and also the parking lots at the hospital and the bus stops.     Sunnybrook Hospital is served by the #11 bus which runs from Davisville Subway station to Steeles, and by the #124 bus, which leaves from Lawrence Station.  Get off the bus at the 3rd stop within the hospital grounds (the K-wing Veteran’s Residence stop).Once you arrive at G-wing, there is only one place you can go (the Linton Boardroom right inside the main entrance), and that’s where the talk will be.

Cost: Seminar – free
Dinner – $15  (students $5)

If you have signed up for dinner, and have to cancel, we request a 48 hour notice.  Otherwise, TABA does have to pay for the dinner, and we will have to pass the cost back onto you.
