2017-2018 session 2018-05-08 seminar

The Applied Biostatistics Association (TABA) invites you to a seminar, light supper & conversation:

Topic: Bayesian Network for Causal Analysis
Presenter: Fei Wang, MSc, McDougall Scientific

Abstract:
Bayesian Networks (BN) are a type of graphical model that represent relationships between random variables. The networks can be very complex with many layers of interactions. Graphical models become BNs when the relationships are probabilistic and uni-directional. Building BNs for causal analyses is a natural and reliable way of expressing (and confirming or refuting) our belief and knowledge about cause and effects. In addition, BNs can be easily reconfigured with minor modifications to facilitate our understanding of probabilistic mechanisms. This paper describes the construction of BNs for causal analyses and how to infer causal structures from observational and interventional data.
