The Division of Biostatistics at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH) is pleased to host the “SORA-BN-TABA Workshop and the DLSPH Biostatistics Research Day” (W-BRD) on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. The event is intended to bring together the regional and local statistical communities who are interested in biostatistics and other applied areas of statistics, and represents a joint effort between DLSPH and the following organizations: the Southern Ontario Regional Association of SSC, the Southern Ontario Chapter of ASA, the Buffalo-Niagara Chapter of ASA, and the Applied Biostatistics Association, York University and McDougall Scientific. The workshop will center around a one-day short course by Dr. Ruslan Salakhutdinov from University of Toronto entitled “Recent Advances in Deep Learning: Learning Structured, Robust, and Multimodal Models”. This workshop represents a continuation of the joint annual workshops held by SORA and TABA. In addition, the workshop will include poster presentations by participants; students and post-docs are particularly encouraged to present their research or practicum work, and three poster awards will be given at the closing ceremony.
